Do whitetail deer hunters cut the butthole out of the deer they kill in the field and wear it as a ring?

All Business asked:

Tradition says when you kill a deer you cut its butt hole out and wear part of it as a ring for the rest of the day for good luck. Do any of you other hunters have this tradition?

Normal field dressing does require you to cut around the rectum, but I’ve never heard about wearing a butthole ring, and frankly, I wish I never had.

I don’t think you need to go through all that. Just follow standard cleaning procedure and you’ll be OK.

Depends on how big the deer is and if the air is blowing in the right direction.

Nothing like a young ,impressionable and gullible Hunter….This is a NEW one. Tradition? What tradition?….lol
You my young friend, have been had! At least whomever told you this didn’t tell you to chew on it like Bubblegum, as some warped rite of passage into manhood…lol

P.S. Don’t try this if you ever get engaged…….

Whoever told you that has quite an imagination.

If Buffalo Bill or Ed Gein ever hunted maybe they had that tradition, but it just isn’t my kind of thing.

Was there a sequel to Red Dawn that I missed?

Only odd tradition that I’ve seen is hanging the nuts of a buck in the nearest tree after field dressing it.

HA HA, you did it didnt you.. sucker!

Had your pals really been into tradition then you would have taken a bite of its heart. However, they would rather you wear a deer anus for a ring. I am definitely going to remember this prank

Jeeze Louise!!! Not in Texas! That must some kind of barbaric Yankee tradition. We Texans leave the butt hole attached to the gut and it all goes into the gut pile. I’ve never even thought of wearing a butt hole for a ring……. Oh, I’ve hunted with a couple of butt holes but I’ve never worn a butt hole for a ring. Man that’s one strange tradition. But on the positive side, it will keep you from biting your finger nail on that finger. Whatever you decide, have fun.
